Prince Emmanuel of Belgium has been pictured on crutches after sustaining a mystery injury on his right foot as he and his family completed their final pilgrimage ahead of the Easter holidays. The young royal took part in an old tradition in Belgium seeing the royal family hiking to Santiago de Compostela, in Spain.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were this year joined by three of their four children, Prince Gabriel, 21, Prince Emmanuel, 19, and Princess Eleonore, 17, as they hiked from Santa Irene to the Spanish city. Their eldest child and heiress to the Belgian throne, Princess Elisabeth, 23, did not take part in the pilgrimage as she was most likely studying for her exams at university. She is currently studying a two-year master's degree in public police at Harvard University in the US.

Emmanuel, who is said to have had several rests throughout the hike, sprained his ankle on Tuesday, according to Belga - Belgium's national news agency.
He was pictured on crutches and with a bandage on his right foot.

Philippe celebrated his 65th birthday there on Tuesday, while Eleonore celebrated her 17th the day after.
In an Instagram post about the pilgrimage, the Belgian royal family said: "Like thousands of other walkers, the Royal Family has been walking a section of the famous ‘Camino de Santiago’ every year around Easter since 2017.
"This year, they completed their walk and arrived at their final destination: the central square of Santiago de Compostela and the beautiful cathedral."
